Circuit & Board Repair

Circuit and control board repair with fast turnaround

When a control board fails, the machine stops and the OEM lead time can be weeks. URang repairs boards at the component level — diagnosing the actual failure, replacing what burned, and testing the board under load before it goes back into service.

What's included

Everything needed to make it work

A complete scope, not a list of billable extras. Here is what this service covers.

Component-level diagnosis

We trace power rails, signals and logic to find the real fault instead of swapping parts and hoping.

Control & industrial board repair

PLC I/O cards, drive boards, operator panels, motion controllers and specialty machine boards.

Power supply repair

Switching supplies, linear supplies and DC rails rebuilt with quality components and verified output.

Solder rework & BGA

Hot-air and reflow rework for connectors, surface-mount components and ball-grid arrays, with inspection.

Conformal coating & cleaning

Corrosion removal, ultrasonic cleaning and re-coating for boards exposed to coolant, oil or washdown.

Load testing & burn-in

Every repaired board is powered and exercised before return, so failures are caught on our bench, not your floor.

Problems we solve

The failures we see every week

  • Obsolete board with no OEM supportWe repair what the manufacturer no longer sells, extending the life of otherwise sound equipment.
  • Six-week lead time on a replacementBench repair often turns around in days, getting the machine back into production far sooner.
  • Replacement cost more than the machine is worthComponent repair is typically a fraction of a new board or a full controls upgrade.
  • Burn marks, blown traces or water damageWe assess repairability honestly and tell you when a board is truly beyond economical repair.
  • Intermittent faults that come and goThermal and vibration testing helps expose marginal solder joints and failing components.
  • No documentation for legacy controlsWe reverse-engineer enough of the circuit to repair and, where useful, document it for your maintenance team.

How it works

What working with us looks like

Repair begins with documentation, not a soldering iron. We record the board identity, the machine it came from, the reported symptoms and any visible damage, then photograph both sides before touching anything. That record protects both of us and makes it possible to compare the board's condition before and after the work.

Diagnosis is methodical. We check incoming power, verify voltage rails, inspect for cold joints, cracked traces and failed capacitors, and use the schematic when one exists or trace the circuit when it does not. Only after the fault is understood do we quote the repair, so you are never surprised by a bill for exploratory work.

The repair itself uses components matched to the original specification wherever possible, with lead-free or leaded solder chosen to suit the board. After rework the board is cleaned, inspected under magnification and, where the application allows, run under load or in a burn-in cycle to expose marginal joints before the board returns to your machine.

Every repaired board ships with a written summary of what failed and what was replaced. That record matters: if the same board fails again, we know exactly where to look, and your maintenance team gains a little more understanding of the equipment they depend on.

Why URang

What you get that a generalist cannot offer

Repair before replace

We quote the repair honestly and tell you when replacement is the better economic choice, even though that means less work for us.

Component-level skill

Real diagnosis and rework, not board swapping. That is what makes obsolete and hard-to-source boards repairable.

Tested before return

Boards are powered, exercised and inspected before shipping, so failures surface on our bench rather than your production floor.

Service area

Local response across the Dayton metro

Boards can be shipped to us from anywhere, and we provide on-site removal and reinstallation across Dayton, Kettering, Miamisburg, Vandalia, Troy, Springfield and the surrounding Miami Valley. Local clients often get same-week bench time; remote clients receive tracked shipping both ways.

Not sure whether you are in range? Call (937) 226-9466 (Dayton) or (989) 286-5123 (Michigan), or email urang@urangit.com and we will tell you honestly whether we can help and what it would take.

Common questions

Circuit & Board Repair — FAQ

What is your typical turnaround time?

Most boards are diagnosed within one to two business days and repaired within three to five, depending on parts availability. Emergency turnaround is available for production-down situations.

Do you warranty repaired boards?

Yes. Repaired boards carry a workmanship warranty, and we stand behind the specific repair we performed. If a board fails again under warranty, we re-evaluate it at no additional diagnostic charge.

Can I mail a board in?

Yes. Pack it in anti-static material, include a description of the machine and the symptoms, and we will confirm receipt, diagnose it and quote the repair before proceeding.

Is repair cheaper than replacement?

Usually, by a wide margin — often 30 to 70 percent less than a new board, and far less than a controls retrofit. We give you the repair quote so you can compare.

What kinds of boards do you repair?

Industrial control and PLC cards, variable-frequency drive boards, servo and motion controllers, power supplies, operator interfaces and custom machine boards.

What if the board cannot be repaired?

We tell you before charging for a repair. If it is not economically repairable, we explain why and can help source a replacement or plan a controls upgrade.
